December newsletter

Hi everyone, thanks to Tom Kittle for a good demo. Not a lot of turning, it has to be said, but loads of useful advice and tips and the occasional joke for good measure.

This month we have the Christmas party. Entry will be free but as always we ask you to bring a raffle prize and buy some tickets. I should be used to it by now but I am always surprised at your generosity on these occasions, thanks you all for your support.

To reward you we have a wonderful buffet for you so come hungry.

I have had a request to bring a grinder and sharpen a few tools, there will be two grinders available, mine and the clubs. If you want to reshape your tools then this is the time to do it.

Thanks go to everyone who has renewed AWGB subs, there are a few still to pay, and in particular some of you who have joined us this year. I will be grateful if you would join, there are several benefits when you do, and we would not have a club without AWGB support.

The Christmas tree and decorations were well received by EACH and the last I heard they were selling well.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year

Ron Davis

It's Competition Time

We are having our usual competition and this time we are leaving the field wide open for you.

Please bring something you have made and enter it in the competition. It must show your skills as a wood turner, be mainly or wholly made of wood. We will make an exception for acrylics for pens. No need to rush down the shed on a cold winters evening, just bring some thing you have made.

Please do not enter something you have won a prize with in a previous competition, but bring it anyway and we will have full 'bring and tell' table.

Usual prizes, Vouchers for DJ Evans tools and accessories.
