Woodworks at Daventry

On the Saturday with five in the car, we set up the sat nav and set out for a journey of just over an hour and a half. I dropped everyone off at the front door and parked the car in the undercover car park, free all day.


First call was a cappuccino, then into the main hall. We were given a free information sheet and a free entry to the show, all they ask is please buy a draw ticket for £1. First prize an Axminster AH 1218 VS lathe worth £280, I had a fivers worth, Norma did as well (She might be a new member soon Ron!)


Trade stands: - Antique Tools (Pre Owned) Ashley Iles, with 400 carving and 350 different turning tools. Axminster Power Tools with a good stand, Cam Vac, Charnwoods Tools Ltd, Chestnut Products, English Hardwoods, Felder Woodworking Machinery, Hammer from Austria, Hassop hand Tools, Lovells work wear, smocks etc. L.R Craft Creations, Mark and Lisa Raby, Lon Haines Hardwoods & African Blackwood plus Pau Rosa must have been good as I bought some. They also had leadwood and panga panga, and Proops had a massive assortment of bits and bobs


Q.J.S Marquetry was there and a very talented chap he was. Simon Hope had a large table of quality tools. Tool Post, Woodart Products Pyrography Rotary hand pieces and LED Lights. Woodworkers Workshop (Peter Sefton furniture) was there with more tools.


Tudor Rose club members had for sale large selection of second hand tools. They also hosted a display of pieces from members of the R.P.T. and the A.W.G.B.


The professional demonstrators included: - Andrew Hall, David Lowe, Gary Rance, Guy Ravine, Jennie Starbuck, John Berkley, John Johnson, Mick Hanbury, Reg Slack, Richard Findley and Steve Heely.


Club displays: - Coombe Abbey, Heart Of England, Middlesex Woodturners, Norwich Woodturners, North Bucks and Milton Keynes, North Warwickshire and Hinkley, Tudor Rose, Village Turners, West Midlands, West Northants, and Warwick carvers.

Now the food! In the hall tea and coffee @50p, and an assortment of cakes. In the entrance hall, tea coffee (cappuccino, latte etc) Burgers, Chips pasties, sausage rolls Chicken breast in a bap, all ok.


We have not heard about the draw yet but many thank go to Tudor Rose and all the others who donated the prizes.
