On Sunday the 14the October three of us went to the A1 Woodworking Show at Sacrewell Farm, just off the A1 west of Peterborough. Seniors at £3 adults at £4. We arrived on a good weathered day for October, crisp with good sunshine.
The show contained Hunts County Cricket Bats, Mac Timbers, British Hardwoods, Ashleigh Iles woodturning and carving tools, Nigel Coope Windsor chairs, J Moore Restoration Ltd, Proops Brothers, a very wide range of small tools, Designer/maker Adrian Parfitt, Kings Cliff Heritage Wood ware, Brain Jackson Old Tools, and CBS Power Tools.
The Glyn Mould School of Woodcarving put on the Show with Rockingham Forest Carvers, who put on a very large selection of members pieces (over 150) all of top quality.
Village Turners of Peterborough had a very long table of member’s quality pieces. Phil Irons was using his trusty Vic Marc lathe, turning hollow forms, ordinary and natural edge.
Also on show a dozen or so of his hollow forms, various stains and finishes. John of Meantime was sharing Phil’s stand with his turning add-ons.
There was a separate hall for competition carving, turnings and furniture pieces.
There was a restaurant and gift shop on site, we could buy bacon or sausage bap’s, tea and coffee from a BBQ under a shelter adjacent to the mail show in a large grain store.
Another good day out
